Burts Potato Chips Ltd
Burts produce what many consider to be the finest "crisp" in the business
even though they manufacture six and a half million packets of chips a year.
After receiving comprehensive consultancy from us we were happy to enable
them to be Broadband4Devon's 2000th client.
One part of this project has been to provide a web site trade ordering
system that dovetails directly with their Sage™ Line 50 accounting
system
. Trade customers can therefore place orders directly
into sales order processing in Burts' Sage Line 50 at any time and can also
view their present or past orders.
We have also created a production planning application to enable Burts
to view current stock levels and sales orders so that they can plan and
view their production requirements all using a graphical display. This application
uses data from their Sage Line 50 database which has first been passed into
a SQL Server database using our bespoke Sage Siphon software enabling faster
look-ups.
Lastly, we have implemented the bar-coding of their production line output
to enable full batch control for food traceability. When fulfilling an order,
Burts now scan the delivery note using handheld barcode scanners. These
scanners are then used to pick the order from the warehouse. On completion
of the picking, the TNT consignment labels are printed automatically using
our link software. The order is marked as complete in Sage and an invoice
is created and printed.
