Digitron Instrumentation Ltd
Digitron is a leading supplier of temperature, pressure, relative humidity
and data logging instruments. We were approached by their web design company
to enable their web site to allow them to provide their dealers and customers
with detailed, up-to-date information about themselves and their products.
They also wanted to provide dealers with information that was not available
to the general public and record details of customers who accessed certain
data so that they could use these records to send targeted emails to groups
of customers.
The heart of the web site is the product catalogue which provides details
of each product in the company's range and allows the user to search for
a product based on keywords or a product code. This functionality,
along with the management tools to maintain the catalogue, is provided by
our standard catalogue management software. The standard functionality
was extended to allow our client to upload files and associate these files
with one or more products. The type of user who can download each file can
also be specified: files may be available to all users; registered users;
or dealers. These files then appear alongside the relevant product
details in the catalogue and can be downloaded by the user. Digitron uses a
web service, designed by Aspidistra,
to record downloads and client details and pass this information
directly into ACT!
The web site contains a 'latest news' section, which is made up of newsletters
that can be created online by Digitron and can optionally be emailed to
all users or a subset of customers or dealers who have registered on
the site.
Users can search for dealers by selecting a location from a drop-down list.
All the dealers within that location are then listed, along with their contact
information and the services which they provide.
